# Weight Calculation Method on the Delivery of Goods

There are two types of method of calculating the weight of goods which is widely known in the freight, the calculation of actual weight and volume weight. Understanding and how these calculations can be understood with the following explanation:

1. Actual weight (actual weight)

Actual weight is the weight obtained from the weighing results. Normally in Indonesia using the units of kilograms (kg). When performing the weighing of goods, usually heavy goods often do not show proper integers. Examples 4.3 Kg or 12.7 Kg. If this happens, usually the expedition to round off the heavy stuff up. 2. Volume Weight (Volumetric Weight)

The formula used for shipment via land are:

o Length (cm) X Width (cm) X Height (cm): 4000.

o For example, items with a length of 100 cm, width 100 cm and height 100 cm, it has a volumetric weight: 100 X 100 X 100/4000 = 250 Kg.

The formula used for domestic & international freight forwarding via air are:

o Length (cm) X Width (cm) X Height (cm): 6,000

o This formula has been used and widely accepted and recognized by ASPERINDO.

o For example, items with a length of 100 cm, width 100 cm and height 100 cm, it has a volumetric weight: 100 X 100 X 100/6000 = 166.66 kg or 167 kg.

The formula used for domestic & international shipments via sea are:

o Length (cm) X Width (cm) X Height (cm): 1,000,000 = M3 (kubikasi)

o This formula has been used and widely accepted in the world

o For example, items with a length of 100 cm, width 100 cm and height 100 cm, it has a volumetric weight: 1000X 1000 X 1000/1 million = 1 or a 1 Kubik M3

The formula used for international freight services via DHL, FedEx, TNT, UPS is:

o Length (cm) X Width (cm) X Height (cm): 5,000

This formula is different from that used by ASPERINDO fees charged by the expedition will be seen by comparing the actual weight calculated by the calculation of the volume weight.
